Privacy
- The free scheduler stores nothing. The schedule is worked out from the address you open and is not saved.
- A desk stores the tournaments you save (name, team names, settings, scores). Its key is stored only as a one-way hash; the key itself lives in a cookie in your browser and in the link you keep.
- Cookies: the desk cookie (only if you start or open a desk) and a security cookie that stops forged form posts. No advertising or tracking cookies, and no analytics services; the ad tag counts one page view per page as a daily total (see Advertising).
- Addresses: to limit abuse we count new desks per connection per day using a salted hash of the IP address, and delete those counts after 3 days. The web server keeps standard access logs.
- Scoreboard links show the tournament's teams, schedule and scores to anyone with the link, until you turn the link off. The link's code is part of the web address, so it appears in the web server's access logs; scoreboard pages are always marked for search engines not to index.
- Deletion: delete a tournament or the whole desk at any time from the desk page. A desk nobody opens for 400 days is deleted automatically. Nightly database backups are kept for 14 days and copies taken on the server when the site is updated for 30 days, then deleted. WeldonPC also keeps an off-server copy of the database taken at each update, for disaster recovery; it is not used for anything else.
- No email, no selling. FieldGrid sends no email and never sells or shares what you type.
Advertising
The home, pricing and how-it-works pages and the free scheduler show one banner ad, below the page, from AdEngine (adengine.us), the small ad network run by WeldonPC, the company behind FieldGrid. For now the ads are for WeldonPC's own services. Desks, scoreboards, the terms, this page and error pages show no ad.
To show an ad, your browser loads a script from adengine.us, asks it for one banner, loads the banner image, and reports once that the page was viewed and once that the banner was shown. Like any website, adengine.us receives your IP address, your browser type and the address of this site with those requests. It is not sent the address of the page you are on or anything you type: team names and settings stay on FieldGrid.
- No cookies, no profile. AdEngine sets no cookies, gives you no ID and does not track you from site to site.
- How your IP address is used. adengine.us looks up the approximate city for your IP address in a location database kept on its own server (nothing is sent to anyone else), so that ads meant for one area are shown only there. It also uses the address to count each ad view or click only once and to leave out robots and WeldonPC's own office traffic. The address is not stored with the counts; the temporary entries made from it expire within six hours and are cleared from the server within two days.
- What is kept. Daily totals only: page views for this site, and views and clicks for each ad. The adengine.us web server also keeps a standard access log (IP address, time, address requested, referring site, browser) for security; it is deleted on a rolling schedule.
- Clicking an ad passes through adengine.us, which counts the click, and then opens the advertiser's site, which has its own privacy policy.
- Nothing about you is sold or shared.
